Fine Art

Art can be rightly described as the “expression of the appealing according to aesthetic principles”. The word ‘fine’ attached with ‘art’ does no wonders to denote the remarkable quality, but it redefines the purity in the institution of art! Over the years of its study and experimentation, fine arts has been personified as ‘visual art forms’ that include painting, sculpture, architecture and print making. This implies, rightly, that this discipline tends to exclude art forms classified as craft-work or applied art (example, textiles). A synonym for what we describe herein can be ‘visual art’.

The pen shows it might and is recognized as novels, and other acclaimed forms of literature, but what of the brush that paints, and perhaps colors with its crisscross lines says much more than words could ever express? Such forms go down into the history as fine arts. Picasso of Spanish origin and M.F.Hussain an Indian inhabitant, both are highly acclaimed names in this field. The beginners in this field idolize them.

Fine arts seeks no age, it only breeds a thought that needs a vent. A child learning to paint does not care about what others might say about what he paints, such is the essence of fine arts. A person of any age or sex or religion can indulge into the extravaganza of feelings and then find a new way, into self exploration, who knows that simple mixing of colors might give him the fame of a lifetime, or even better if the palette can satisfy the excited soul!!!

Fine art is further categorized into Architecture, Ceramics, Dance, Drawing, Film, Fine art photography, Furniture, Intermedia (interdisciplinary, traditionally referred to as Fine Art Media), Literature, Music & Opera, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Textiles and Theatre. Classifying art does not mean that unbreakable walls have been created around it, suffocating it to fatality. Categorizing is only done so as to create tables for each one of these because rapidly multiplying contributions in them.

The idea of fine art is expression, whatever form, whichever medium, whoever artist!! It underlines the fact the every creation is a masterpiece, every creator is an aficionado, and every medium is the most apt one!

So, let’s be the aficionado and create a masterpiece that reflects our soul and its comprehension!
Fine art can be taken up like a religion, where each day, you make your contribution by offering something to your God, good or bad, you do not know, but it is the best that you can offer, so offer it!

Brighten Up Your Hotel or B&B With Contemporary Fine Art

If you’re a hotelier or the owner of a bed and breakfast, you undoubtedly want your guests to feel warm and welcome. As you already know, the small touches can leave a lasting impression on your guests. What you may not know is that art - particularly contemporary fine art - can play a significant role in conveying your desired message to your patrons.

As an independent hotelier or B&B owner, you’ve probably given much thought to the facade of your establishment, the layout of the lobby, and even the uniforms that your staff wear. You may not have considered the ways in which art can help reinforce your “brand” - what your guests come to associate with your establishment.

Original watercolors, for example, can reinforce feelings of relaxation and rejuvenation among guests who stay in properties located in vacation destinations. The tropical watercolor of a parrot in colorful plumage or a flowering peach hibiscus will bring smiles to the faces of your guests. For the historical establishment, acrylic paintings depicting local history will reinforce the feeling that your hotel or B&B is associated with a particular location or place in time.

Original contemporary fine art is out of reach for many small- and medium-sized establishments, but that doesn’t mean that art can’t play a role in maintaining the ambience of your hotel. Reproductions are an affordable solution to fine art, and can be incorporated into virtually every public space and private room in a hotel. Giclee prints, for example, can be printed on high quality paper stock, on canvas, or on exquisite silk. The digital ink-jet process uses up to a dozen fade-resistant inks to bring depth and life to a fine art reproduction.

Likewise, lithographs can be reproduced on quality paper, or can even be printed digitally on Baltic birch plywood or aluminum. For the artist, lithographs allow his or her work to be reproduced faithfully, without a “middleman,” so to speak. Serigraphy is another option for those in the hospitality industry to avail themselves of fine art at affordable prices. Formerly known as silkscreening, serigraphy is an extremely versatile method of making multiple copies of an artist’s work. The inks used in serigraphy will adhere to a variety of surfaces, and so can be used on textiles, woods, paper, and glass.

Whatever the ambiance of your hotel or B&B, contemporary fine art and fine art reproductions can enhance the impression you’re trying to convey to your guests - at a price that’s affordable.

How To Select An Art Piece In An Art Auction

Nowadays, there are many art auction houses available online such as sotheby and ebay. However, before attempting to bid for a fine art auction, there are some points you need to take note especially if you are a beginner to art auctions.

If you are new to fine art auctions, you might first decide what it is you like to collect. Is it abstract art, oil-based painting, impression art etc?

You also might want to read up on the art category that you prefer to buy. Take for example, you are into abstract art. It would help you in your art auctions if you knew more about abstract art history, the various abstract art movements. The best way to start would be on the internet. One such site is www.artsconnected.org. They provide comprehensive search tools for visitors to research on their favorite art category.

The other way is to browse the various art magazines, books, periodicals. You could go to your local bookstore, amazon or even the local library. Visit a few fine art auction houses and get a feel for the type of art you are interested in. Art Auction houses will usually provide detailed information on the art piece being auctioned.

How Do I Know The Art Piece I Like Is Real?

Ok, so you finally found an art piece you like. The next question you are probably asking is how do I know it is authentic? Since the value of an art piece is subjective depending on the person looking at it, it would be best if you can afford it to get a professional art appraiser to value the art piece.

For large fine art auction houses such as sotheby, you can be assured that the art piece is already appraised and is authentic. However, if you are looking for an art piece at smaller auction houses or online art auctions such as ebay, you do need to be extra careful. Particularly so for online art auctions where there are many fake art pieces being auctioned.

If you like a fine art being auctioned online, the best way if possible would be to communicate with the art seller before buying. Online art auctions usually keep a track record of the art seller’s sales history and can help you to determine whether the seller is a reputable person.
